Ruth Hairr Naylor, 90, of Sanford passed away Wednesday April 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
Ruth was born and raised in Sampson County, NC and was the daughter of Wiley Eschol Hairr and Elizabeth Tew Hairr. In 1950, she moved, with her husband James, to Sanford and immediately joined the First Baptist Church. Her dear friends in Sanford, the church and her family became the foundation of a happy and blessed life.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, James Tilghman Naylor and daughters Martha N. Jobe of Mebane and Joan N. Barnes and husband John of Stokes Co. She was the proud grandparent of Laura J. Gaddy ( Tadd), Amy J. Nelson ( Scott), Jackson Barnes ( Ariane) and Carla Barnes. She was GiGi to four precious great-grandchildren, Lila, Beau, Bryn and Mira. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Elwood and Pittman Hairr, and sisters, Osie Marie Hairr, Otha Honeycutt, Mildred Worley, and Olive Blythe. She has one surviving sister Barbara Davis and husband J.E. of Salemburg, NC.
Her life was enriched with the love of her many brothers and sisters through marriage and the nieces and nephews in her extended family.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm Saturday in the Parlor at First Baptist Church.
