Sarah had an amazing gift with animals. She was an eventer, horse trainer, dog trainer and loved her rescued Grey Hounds. Especially dear to her were her Italian Grey Hound Sophia and her cat Salem.
She studied animal science at N.C. State University and had her own dog boarding and training business. She had worked at Pet Smart and Triangle Canine Training Services in Apex and Garner.
Her second love was music and theater. Through high school she was often behind the scenes at the Temple Theater, making sure props were in the right place, sets were moved on time and correctly spiked and during The Sound of Music, played keyboard in the orchestra and served as costume mistress. She worked often as sound and lighting technician with Stevan Dupor of Dupor Design, Inc. in Raleigh and could be seen frequently in the sound booth of Stewart Theater at Peace College. Sarah’s love of music was very evident as she was an accomplished pianist and played the flute and clarinet.
Sarah had a passion for reading, especially Si-Fi. Loved Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, was a Trekie and Star Wars Fan.
She was preceded in death by her brother Matthew Almond; grandparents John Almond and Carolyn and Earl Andleton.
Sarah is survived by her mother Beverly Almond, Father and step mother David and Carolyn Almond; Grandmother Carrie Almond; brother Josh Almond and wife Amy and nephew Mason. Step brother and wife Bryce and Brook Love and step sister and husband Laura and Brian Atkins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sarah Marie Almond Memorial Scholarship fund at First Presbyterian Church. Sarah will be missed deeply by her family and numerous lives or all those she touched especially her best friends Steven Dupor and Tiffany Long.
