Steven “Earl” McQueen, 82 of Sanford passed away Sunday June 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Red Branch Baptist Church. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 pm in the Church before the funeral. Burial will follow at the McQueen Family Cemetery in Derby, NC.
Mr. McQueen was born in Richmond Co a son of the late James Carl McQueen and Beulah Jenkins McQueen. He was preceded in death by sons Adam Douglas McQueen & Thomas Carl McQueen; great granddaughter Savannah Luna Alejo; sisters Marjorie Van Boskerck (Abram), Virginia Austin (Robert), June Jameison, Ruth Self, Faye Davis, Ethel McQueen; brothers Reverend JC McQueen (Juanita), Baxter McQueen (Edna), Bernie McQueen (Julia), Thomas McQueen (Clafton), Reverend Richard McQueen (Betty); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. McQueen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hilda Wright McQueen, daughter Cheryl Vaughan, son Steven Bruce McQueen (Helene) grandchildren; Tara Alejo (Marco), Debbie Trogdon, Kaley McQueen, Tavis McQueen, Cameron Vaughan and Cassidy Vaughan: great grandchildren; Steven James”SJ”Trogon and Kenneth Wayne Jones; sisters: Phyllis Greene, Evelyn Burgess and Louise Bissette; brother in law Charles Davis.
Mr. McQueen was a Veteran of the US Air Force and retired from IBM after 30 plus years. He was a faithful man fully believed and lived by the word of God. He was a faithful member of Green Level Baptist Church for 35 years where he served as a Deacon, and Red Branch Baptist for 14 years. He loved to spread the word of the Gospel and was an outstanding father, grandfather, and great grandfather, brother, husband, and friend. Earl had a contagious smile and enjoyed tinkering, fishing, visiting/socializing with family/friends, hymns/gospel music, farming, and multiple sports.
