Theta Foushee

Theta Nordan Foushee, 82, went home to her Heavenly Father June 22, 2018. Mrs. Foushee was born January 3, 1936 in Harnett County, NC.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Duncan and Laylon Patterson Nordan, her husband, Graydon Foushee, and her brother Ernest Nordan and his wife Rebecca.

Mrs. Foushee is survived by a son, Randall Gattis and his wife Susan of Sanford, son Larry Gattis and wife Stephanie of Sanford, step-son Marty Foushee and wife Michelle of Sanford, step daughter Jane Stewart and step daughter Nancy Padjo and husband Mark of Sanford. Mrs. Foushee is also survived by a brother, Watson Nordan and wife Kathleen of Pittsboro, a sister, Elaine O’Quinn and husband Donald of Lillington, and a sister Elizabeth Thomas and husband Vernard of Graham, NC. Mrs. Foushee leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Foushee graduated from Boone Train High School and Sanford Business College. She began working for Sanford Construction Company in January of 1955 and retired in 1996 as Secretary-Treasurer of the company. Mrs. Foushee was a member of Jonesboro UMC since 1964 and Cool Springs UMC in Mamers prior to that. Mrs. Foushee enjoyed her family, her church, cooking, working in her yard, and traveling. She was world famous for her legendary pound cakes.

Mrs. Foushee suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and resided the last seven years of her life in Parkview Retirement Center. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Parkview for their outstanding care provided during this time. The family would also like to thank Community Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Foushee over the last year.

The family will have visitation from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday, June 25 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home on Carthage Street. A service will follow immediately after in the chapel at the funeral home
