Thomas Ray Smith

Thomas "Ray" Smith, 63 of Sanford passed away Saturday April 29, 2017.  Mr. Smith resided in the Sanford area doing home renovations and was known as Ray to all of his family and friends.  He attended Central Baptist Temple Church for 17 years and dedicated his life to helping others.  He was always willing to give his testimony to anyone that would listen.   A Memorial service will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home Chapel.

 Mr. Smith was born in Hamlet, NC son of the late Norman Calvin Smith and Julia Chavis Deaton. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a son, Franklin Ray Smith.

 Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mary Shorb Smith; daughter, Theresa Hillis of Sanford; sons, Garry Hillis and Steven George both of Sanford; sister, Brenda Love (Johnny Howington) of Sanford and a brother, Norman Lewis Smith (Diana) of Sanford; grandchildren, Kayla, Duane, Austin and Breanna.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday before the Memorial service.
