William Alton Boaz

William Alton “Billy” Boaz, 68 of Sanford passed away peacefully Monday June 5, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Billy was born in Cumberland County, the son of Dorothy Badgett Boaz and the late Sidney Alton Boaz. He owned and operated Sanford Rewinding Company for many years. An avid Duke fan he enjoyed boating, fishing, and golf; with his love of being on the water beginning at age three on Buffalo Lake.

He was a PER of Sanford Elks Lodge #1679 and was passionate about fundraising through the Annual Elks Member Guest Golf Tournament which raised money for sponsored children’s charities.

Mr. Boaz is survived by his mother, Dorothy Badgett Boaz of Sanford; his wife Wanda Bryant Boaz, stepdaughter Logan C. Saponaro (Ben) of Cary; sister, Peggy Roberts (Ronnie) of Sanford, nephews Chris Roberts (Hilary) and Matt Roberts (Lauren), nieces Casey Halverstadt (Josh) and Catherine Morrison (Mike).

The family will greet friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
