William Thomas Byerly

Thomas Wilburn “Tommy” Byerly, 79, of Sanford passed away Sunday (1/7/24). Graveside services were held on Saturday January 13, 2024 at Buffalo Cemetery by Rev. Sam Roach.

Mr. Byerly was born in Lee Co. to the late Dr. James Hampton Byerly Sr. and Eileen Alldridge Byerly. He loved his family and going to the beach. He was a dedicated member of the Board of Director’s for Lees-McRae; a university he held dear to his heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious wife Mary Byerly and brother James Hampton Byerly Jr.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Kay Byerly; niece Kin Byerly McGovern (James); nephews Kirk Byerly and Mark Byerly; great nieces Dr. Elizabeth Hampton D’Orazio (Jared), Kate Williams (Taylor), and Emily McGovern; nephews John Johnson (Connie) and Lance Powers; cousin Vicky holder; and many other cousins, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
