William Edward Kallam

William E. Kallam, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on August 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Henry and Alice Kallam and sister Henrietta Nelson. Known for his craftsmanship, William retired from General Motors as an insurance adjuster and instructor. He was a man of many talents, with a deep love for woodworking and restoring various items, including boats, motorcycles, tractors, and even an airplane.

William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955. After his military service, he married Jane Mitchell in 1958, and together they shared sixty-six years of marriage. They were blessed with three sons: Eddie (Anna-Rhesa) Kallam of Pittsboro, NC, Terry (Christen) Kallam of Clayton, NC, and Jerry (Leigh) Kallam of Nashville, GA. William and Jane's family grew to include eight grandchildren: Leah, Noah (Ashlyn), Lauren, Mitchell, Caroline, Jacob (Madison), Matthew, and Joshua.

A dedicated member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church in Sanford, NC, William cherished the friendships he made, especially within his men's group. His roots ran deep in Mayodan, NC, where he and Jane grew up together, attending Beaver Island Baptist Church. They participated in church as youth and were baptized together in a local river, a shared experience that remained meaningful throughout their lives.

William will be laid to rest at Beaver Island Baptist Church, located at 3111 Ayersville Rd, Mayodan, NC 27027. Rogers Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford, NC will be handling the service to be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
