William Earle Patterson

William Earle Patterson Jr., 94, of Broadway passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sanford at 11 am. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Mr. Patterson was born August 3, 1928, in Charlotte, NC, the son of the late William Earle Patterson Sr. and Minnie Bell Patterson. He attended N.C. State, was a graduate of Guilford College and Central Carolina Community College and spent most of his career in the engineering industry with Cornell-Dubilier and Trion in the Sanford area. Mr. Patterson served his country in the U.S. Army, with time spent in Austria as a Corporal. He enjoyed reading, yard work, and was a fan of N.C. State athletics. He loved his family and was a proud parent and grandparent of three Eagle Scouts. He was a cherished active member of his church at Trinity Lutheran. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Charles Patterson and sister Jeane Patterson.

He is survived by his wife Monica Patterson of Broadway; daughter Elizabeth Clayton (Ward) of Jacksonville, FL; sons William Earle Patterson III (Patty) of Kannapolis, NC, and John Patterson (Jill) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; and grandchildren Monica Clayton, Will Clayton and Grace Patterson.
