William Eugene Wagoner

William Eugene Wagoner, 89, passed away October 26, 2017. He was born in Sanford to Holmes Marshall Wagoner and Margaret Burns Wagoner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Holmes Marshall Wagoner Jr.

Mr. Wagoner is survived by his wife of sixty six years, Joan Johnson Wagoner; their two children, Lisa Foushee (Ken) of Sanford, and William E. Wagoner Jr (Rhonda) of Loganville, GA; four grandchildren, Kevin Foushee (Whitney) of Sanford, Jennifer F. Conde (Jorge) of Jacksonville, FL, Kristen Wagoner of Atlanta, and Ryan Wagoner (Erica) of Loganville; He will be dearly missed by all, including his devoted companion, Zoey.

William grew up in Sanford and graduated from Sanford High School and then VMI. After serving the US Army, he attended the Philadelphia College of Horology. Upon completing his training in watch making, he returned to Sanford and joined his father and brother, Marshall, in the family business, Wagoner’s Jewelers, which was established by his father in 1921.

A Memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday October 29th at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends at the Church following the service.
